Logicworks Launches Infrastructure Services for Hadoop
Logicworks, a provider of cloud computing and managed hosting services, has officially announced the launch of its new infrastructure services offering for Apache Hadoop. Created in response to the increasing demands of business intelligence and big data customers, the new infrastructure for Hadoop offers users the security and performance of enterprise storage and dedicated servers, the value and scalability of cloud computing, and Logicworks’ renowned managed services in a single solution.
Logicworks’ infrastructure for Hadoop comes equipped with an extensive set of features. The service employs low-latency, high bandwidth networks for improved performance and efficiency of Hadoop clusters. It features hybrid architecture with infiniCloud public cloud service that offers multiple advantages. The enterprise storage supplies maximum data protection and customers also receive the ability to add resources on an on-demand basis.
The features of Logicworks’ new infrastructure for Hadoop continue with horizontally scalable stacked switches for scaling “Hadoop clusters on a self-healing, redundant network with stacked Extreme Networks Switches.” The service addresses name node redundancy through the use of VMware-based private clouds for high availability via vSphere Fault Tolerance, which creates a live shadow of NameNode virtual machines. Improved Hadoop performance is achieved through the use of latest generation hardware found in private cloud nodes and the public cloud.
Rounding out the noteworthy features of Logicworks’ infrastructure for Hadoop are dedicated inter-cluster communication interfaces. These use VLANs to provide network isolation to keep Hadoop cluster traffic separate from other network traffic. Logicworks’ also uses bare metal servers and cloud resources in its service for Hadoop that have network interfaces dedicated to inter-node traffic. Lastly, the service offers Hadoop Distributed File Systems protocol through Isilon to reduce the importing and exporting of data into and out of Hadoop to help customers conserve resources.
Kenneth Ziegler, president of Logicworks, said: “Our clients find it expensive and time consuming to stand up and maintain high-availability infrastructures for their analytics systems. Our managed Big Data services provide a turn-key, proven architecture which allows clients to spend less time worrying about their infrastructure and more time using their data for better decision-making.”
