ICEsoft Technologies is a worldwide producer of open source enterprise Java technologies, and it has a new framework available that redefines the way in which Java enterprise applications are developed, as well as their capabilities. The new framework goes by the name of ICEfaces 2. It is a followup to the original award winning ICEfaces release. ICEsoft just announced the product's official release, and if it is anything like its predecessor, it will be accepted by developers with open arms.
Scoped Resource Registry - Registers each resource in a specified scope, so that when the scope expires, the resource can be garbage collected.
Portlet Development – Portlet applications can be developed using the PortletFaces Bridge, which has been tweaked to support JSF 2.
Client APIs – Allow for the monitoring of events on the client side, such as event callbacks, form submission, and more.
Streamlined Configuration – Improves efficiency by eliminating the likelihood of small configuration errors and making it easier to add ICEfaces to a JSF application.
Minimized Dependencies – Other than certain libraries specified in the JEE 6 Web Profile, ICEfaces 2 is not dependent on third party libraries.
A plethora of rich components beyond the ones offered in JSF 2 is included.
ICEfaces 2 is now available for download via the icefaces.org website.
